Keto-Friendly Cured Meat Recipes

The keto diet is characterized by the intake of low carbs, medium protein, and high fat. It is the perfect diet for incorporating your favorite cured meats into every meal! While it may sound easy to indulge in meats for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you will quickly realize you need some recipes to spice things up a bit, rather than eating steak three times a day.

Here are four of our favorite keto-friendly recipes that you can make using Carnivore Club cured meats:

 

Keto Stuffed Peppers

Prep time: 15min

Cook time: 60min

Serves: 4-6

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of bacon, or the equivalent of your favorite cured meat (salami and/or prosciutto recommended)
  • ½ onion, chopped
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 tbsp. chili powder
  • 2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 14oz can diced tomatoes, drained
  • 4 bell peppers, sliced in half
  • 2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp. thinly sliced green onions

 

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large pot over medium heat, add onions and cook until soft (5min).
  2. Add beef and cured meat and cook until beef is no longer pink (7min). Add chili powder, cumin, oregano, and paprika. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add broth and tomatoes and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer until slightly thickened (20min).
  4. Place bell pepper halves in baking dish and fill with the chili mixture. Top with cheddar cheese and bake until cheese is melted and peppers are softened (30min).
  5. Garnish with green onions and serve.

Keto Sausage Breakfast Sandwich

Prep time: 10min

Cook time: 10min

Serves: 3

Ingredients:

  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp. heavy cream
  • Pinch red pepper flakes
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 3 slices cheddar cheese
  • 6 cured sausage patties
  • Avocado, sliced

 

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, beat eggs, heavy cream, and red pepper flakes together. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Pour 1/3 egg mixture into skillet, place a slice of cheese in the middle and let sit for 1min. Fold the sides of the egg into the middle, covering the cheese. Remove from pan and repeat twice.
  3. Serve eggs between two sausage patties with avocado slices.

 

 keto bacon/prosciutto avocado bombs

Keto Bacon/Prosciutto Avocado Bombs

Prep time: 10min

Cook time: 10min

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 avocados
  • 1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices bacon or prosciutto

 

Directions:

  1. Heat broiler and line small baking sheet with foil. Slice each avocado in half and remove the pits and skin.
  2. Fill the two bottom halves with cheese, then replace with the top halves. Wrap each avocado with bacon or prosciutto.
  3. Place bacon/prosciutto wrapped avocadoes on baking sheet and broil until the bacon/prosciutto is crispy (5min for bacon, 2min for prosciutto). Flip the avocado using tongs and cook until the other side is crispy too.
  4. Serve while warm.

 

 keto brussels sprouts hash

Keto Brussels Sprouts Hash

Prep time: 15min

Cook time: 30min

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

  • 8oz salami, chopped
  • ½ onion, chopped
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 lb. brussels sprouts, trimmed and quartered

 

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook salami until edges start to brown. Remove salami but keep fat in skillet.
  2. Add onions and brussels sprouts to the skillet. Stir occasionally, until vegetables start to soften and turn golden. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Add 2 tbsp. water and cover skillet. Cook until brussels sprouts are tender and water has evaporated (5min). Add garlic and cook until fragrant (1min).
  4. Using a wooden spoon, make four holes in the hash to reveal the bottom of the skillet. Crack an egg in each hole and season with salt and pepper. Replace the lid and cook until eggs are done to your liking (5min for a just runny egg).
  5. Sprinkle salami bits over the entire skillet and serve warm.

 

Any of these recipes can be adapted to incorporate your favorite cured meats. Changing the meats used can keep the same recipe exciting as you experiment with new flavor combinations. Maybe you want to add a spicy chorizo to your chili or try wrapping your avocado bombs in pancetta.
