Big Chiefs

Originally a sausage producer and delicatessen, William Klein founded Alberta Fancy Sausage Ltd. in 1971. As a master butcher, William brought skills honed in Germany to Calgary and customers at the shop would ask for “The Big Chief” when referring to him. When the switch was made from delicatessen to beef jerky manufacturer, the new brand “Big Chief” evolved. The Big Chief difference is based on four decades of experience and dedication to quality, with Big Chief beef snacks crafted uniquely using “The Big Chief’s” sausage-producing mastery. Our meat snacks are carefully tended during the curing process to ensure each portion maintains that easy to chew, delicious, mouth-watering and full-bodied flavour that comes only from 100% beef!

The Amsellem family has been offering products from a unique know-how that is changing the world of deli meats. Today, our passion is becoming our profession and we clearly intend to innovate new recipes and share with you the love of a real dry sausage as our ancestors taught us !
